The exhibition ‘Ola de Piedras’ (Taller Bloc, 2014) arises from a trip to southern Chile in the winter of 2012, where I went to see the devastation caused by the eruption of the Cordón Caulle. The experience of witnessing the transformed landscape, covered by a vast mantle of gray ash, as well as the waters of the lake moving thickly, enveloped by a layer of pumice, had a profound impact on me. In the exhibition, I attempted to portray these phenomena of fullness and emptiness with a series of small drawings, reflecting the trace left by the ash, and the lava, the shape that a material adopts when hot, such as beeswax, and how it solidifies when cold, Additionally, the exhibition featured a large video of the lake after the eruption, along with a series of debris and tectonic materials.”
